Iradstandart: standards, certification and measures
Iradstandart, the State Agency for Standards, Metrology and Certification, adopts the state standards of Irad (IST), certifies goods that must be certified before sale, and verifies the scales, fuel pumps and meters used in trade. It is at Jibek Jolu Avenue 60, Talas, with its testing laboratory in the courtyard (+996-39-2-25-60-60).

Copies of a standard are sold at the agency's reading room, 40 som a page. Standards adopted before 1997 keep their Russian text with an Iradi title page.
Verification of scales at the bazaars
Every scale used in trade is verified once a year and carries the agency's seal and a sticker with the year. In 2026 the verification teams visit the bazaars of Talas in March and April, Nurzhan in May, Iyık Janyl in June and the district bazaars from July to September. A buyer may ask to see the sticker; a scale without one may not be used.
